Have you found your Harvest?

It’s 4 a.m in the morning …

Joven continues to toil and work through the night to rush through his proposal, one that is a chance in his lifetime to prove himself and get his long awaited promotion. He believes that this chance was given by God and he gave in his all to make sure that it was perfect.

“Family … they can wait, Friends … they can wait too. Nothing is too important than the chance God has given me.”

2 months down the road, Joven had been up every night just to perfect his work and it turned out to be a great success. The months of hard work seem so worth it as he could just see himself getting that opening of the assistance manager’s post.

On the day of the announcement, his boss, announced that Adrian, his supervisor who always did nothing, was picked instead. It was later found out by Joven that his proposal was submitted under Adrian’s name, and that he actually lied and changed Joven’s name.

Joven was devastated to see all his hard work going to anther person, but all he could do was to just sit and watch Adrian celebrate his new position with joy.

On the other end of the street, there lies a faint sound of a girl sobbing. She buried herself in her pillow and tears flow down her cheeks.

“I have put in so much effort in my project.”

“ I was the only one who did the work!”

“ Why did they have to gang up against me and say that I didn’t do anything!!. It’s not fair!!!”

“ I did so much yet I was the only one who failed the project”

“It has happened so many times! I’ve also worked hard and never stop trying! Why?! Why did God do this to me”

Can you see what do the girl and Joven have in common?

They have both put in lots of effort into their work and their rewards just never seen to belong to them. It was taken, it was stolen and nothing was given to them.

What they sow, they did not reap.

It was given to others.

To the others who did nothing.

Unfair?

To answer this question, let’s look at someone in the bible who actually had to go through this situation many times where people reaped his harvest and he was chased out of his own land without a cent.

This man is Isaac.

Let’s see what happened to him and what we can learn from this great man of God.

Genesis 26 : 12 – 29
12 Isaac planted crops in that land and the same year reaped a hundredfold, because the LORD blessed him.
13 The man became rich, and his wealth continued to grow until he became very wealthy.
14 He had so many flocks and herds and servants that the Philistines envied him.
15 So all the wells that his father's servants had dug in the time of his father Abraham, the Philistines stopped up, filling them with earth.
16 Then Abimelech said to Isaac, "Move away from us; you have become too powerful for us."
17 So Isaac moved away from there and encamped in the Valley of Gerar and settled there.
18 Isaac reopened the wells that had been dug in the time of his father Abraham, which the Philistines had stopped up after Abraham died, and he gave them the same names his father had given them.
19 Isaac's servants dug in the valley and discovered a well of fresh water there.
20 But the herdsmen of Gerar quarreled with Isaac's herdsmen and said, "The water is ours!" So he named the well Esek, [b] because they disputed with him.
21 Then they dug another well, but they quarreled over that one also; so he named it Sitnah. [c]
22 He moved on from there and dug another well, and no one quarreled over it. He named it Rehoboth, [d] saying, "Now the LORD has given us room and we will flourish in the land."
23 From there he went up to Beersheba.
24 That night the LORD appeared to him and said, "I am the God of your father Abraham. Do not be afraid, for I am with you; I will bless you and will increase the number of your descendants for the sake of my servant Abraham."
25 Isaac built an altar there and called on the name of the LORD. There he pitched his tent, and there his servants dug a well.
26 Meanwhile, Abimelech had come to him from Gerar, with Ahuzzath his personal adviser and Phicol the commander of his forces.
27 Isaac asked them, "Why have you come to me, since you were hostile to me and sent me away?"
28 They answered, "We saw clearly that the LORD was with you; so we said, 'There ought to be a sworn agreement between us'-between us and you. Let us make a treaty with you
29 that you will do us no harm, just as we did not molest you but always treated you well and sent you away in peace. And now you are blessed by the LORD."

So in short, Isaac’s favour was being envied by the others and everytime he was about to reap his harvest, someone will be there to take it away from him. But he never gave up, he just continued to search different areas with his servant and continued digging. Everytime he was forced out of the place, he just believed in God and true enough, he prospered anywhere he went.

The revelation I had while listening to this story was that, many a times we will be faced with situation where something or someone who we have been working so hard for, will just be taken right in front of our eyes, just before you are going to reap the harvest.

What I saw from Isaac was so encouraging. The faith he has that never makes him give up. How many times can we actually put in effort just to receive nothing at the end of the day? But it is then with the conviction that you are the one who prospers things, not places, not buildings, not companies and not even other people, are the reasons why you will receive a harvest.

God will always give us opportunities, so many and so great that we can’t imagine. When trials and obstacles befalls us, we should be like Isaac and be in Faith. Be in Faith that you are the one who PROSPERs the place and not the place which prospers you. It is Jesus and Jesus is in YOU!

At the last part of the verse, Isaac was called back to where he belonged, where all his riches lies. It was all because that the King realized that Isaac was the one whom God found Favour with, the one who prospered the land. So have the knowing that if God sets you up in a place, no matter what may happen, He will bring you back, with even more glory and Favour, not just to Him, but to people of the World too.

How lovely isn’t it? Companies may change, job positions may be shifted, but God’s love and blessing of prospering you will never. It is in You and nothing you do will ever change that or make it leave you.

God said this to us ...

"You will drink from wells that you did not dig"

He is a well did we did not dig and yet we are "harvesting" from Him. These wells which he gives may be just anything around you, whether it's from work or daily life, have the knowing that He provides all sorts of well for you to drink from. But we should not forget that once you drink from the ultimate well (Jesus), then the rest will just fall into place and flow into your life.

So the next time you find your harvest taken away, be in Faith and hope and know that you will prosper more ABUNDANTLY and He will bring you to where He wants to.

Just sit down, relax and watch the Lord grow the Harvest, just for you.

Shalom!
